So I decided to write this blog post after someone came across my site by searching for “media.suarez ten cool careers for media majors”. What an awesome idea for a blog post! So here it is…note, actual job titles will differ in the real world.
1. Social Media Ninja
Do some tweets, make some YouTube clips and blog about it.
2. Tech Evangelist
Tech startups need to have a non-IT heavy person to explain and promote the tech’s features. In street speak.
3. Graphic Designer
Draw. Photoshop. Read client briefs.
4. Online Marketing Coordinator
See #1
5. Ideas Catalyst!
Because you’re young and fresh from college, chances are higher that you’ll have some ideas that Need To Go Out There before the real world stamps you into conformity…….
6. Blogger
Blog.
7. The Twitterer
If the company is big enough, chances are high that they require someone just to specialise in Tweeting.
8. Sessional Tutor
Because it means that you need to work at a university. So you get to still hang out with the cool uni cats!
9. Social Media Reporter
I’ve really only came across one job ad for a social media reporter and that was for Flight Centre..
10. Chief Entertainment Officer / Chief Media Catalyst Officer / Chief Socialising Officer / Chief Awesome Officer
If you run your own startup…
On another note, here’s a list of 10 jobs you (probably) don’t want after college.
PS: Post is tongue in cheek if you can’t already tell…
Nice, though I am not sure you got #4 right. I spend far more time looking after Search, both paid and organic and UX issues than I ever do with social media.
Online Marketing Coordinator is a bit of a meaningless job title though.
Depends on the organisation and what their overall marketing strategy is. At the moment, search is not big, social is, so I sometimes get referred to as Social Media Coordinator.
I should probably add to #4: Looks at analytics heaps (more).
Now I can agree with you about stats, that is for sure. Just look at my latest blog post
I am fully satisfied with the post, It is not only interesting but also is a informative article.
